ANIMATING PROMETHEUS

Layouts, backgrounds and animated shots from Prometheus. Research for the Olympus throne room, the palace of the Titans and the human citadels was based on a mixture of different ancient Greek temples and city ruins.

Layout of the Olympus throne room. The final shot did not include the Ark of Defkalion and Pyrra seen on the right side of the since it might confuse audiences not familiar with the Greek mythology.

All artwork was created with pen and paper. The layouts seen here are a result of a mixed technique with paper cut outs, inked edges and colored pensils.

The citadel port and palace. On the final shot, the villager houses have gone and an "agora" was placed. Also this 2D layout broke down in 9 layers. Every layer had buildings, statues and staic elements.

Layout of the panning background from the Olympus throne room.

In the final shot, Zeus rises from his throne and walks to the palace window.

A look in the creation of Prometheus.Test compositing exposing layers and stages of the shot.Prometheus is a 2D hand drawn animated short. On the left clip the scene before The animation is done on paper with pencils, then scanned and digitally colored. The final compositing and editing was done on Adobe  Premiere.
