The facts behind the Legend
Some might find it strange, that i am dealing with this subject but i can assure you that this taste of history will be unforgetable. Perhaps the story sounds fake but the truth is that the story of Vampires, the story about a vampire of Greek origin didn't came to me in a night. The Greek folklore tradition is full of stories of the kind .
The greatest researcher of the Greek folklore Nikolaos Politis refers to a series of incidents and even letters of the Great Patriarch of Constantinople Fotios on how to deal with vampires.
Since the age of Homer until today there have been writtings, stories, manuscripts and publications indicating that there is more to the eye that we see.
Οι βρικόλακες υπήρχαν στην Ελληνική Μυθολογία πολύ πρίν εμφανιστούν σε άλλες.
Μερικές από τις "βαμπιρικές" οντότητες ήταν οι Μορμολυκίες, οι Έμπουσες και οι Λάμιες. Ο θρύλος λέει πως η Λάμια ήταν κόρη του Ποσειδώνα και της νύμφης Λιβύης
Μια βασίλισσα που αγάπησε ο Δίας.. Η Ήρα όμως έμαθε για την απιστία του Δία και της έστειλε την τρέλα..την παράνοια...Της έστειλε την δίψα για αίμα. Την ακόρεστη δίψα για ανθρώπινο αίμα. Η Λάμια ήταν ο πρώτος βρικόλακας σύμφωνα με την ελληνική μυθολογία. Αυτό το πλάσμα ήταν ο τρόμος όλων σκότωνε παιδιά, κατασπάραζε ανθρώπους τίποτε και κανείς δεν μπορούσε να την αντιμετωπίσει.
Από τον Αριστοτέλη στον Πλούταρχο τον Στράβωνα, και τον Στησίχωρο όλοι την αναφέρουν, για τον τρόμο που έσπερνε τη μορφή και τις ιδιότητες της

Στο Βυζάντιο η δράση των απέθαντων και των πλασμάτων της νύχτας επεκτάθηκε.
Η εκκλησία προσπάθησε να περιορίσει την δράση και το δολοφονικό έργο τους, ακόμη
κι ο Πατριάρχης Φώτιος έστειλε οδηγίες για τον τρόπο αντιμετώπισης τους.

Vampires existed in the Greek Mythology long before they appeared in Western culture. Some the vampiric entities were Mormolikies, Empouses and Lamia. Legend says that Lamia was one of the daughters of Poseidon and nymph Lybia. And Zeus fell in love with her. But Hera learned about Zeus infidelity and send madness to Lamia. She gave her the lust for blood, the everlasting thirst for human blood. So Lamia fed upon the blood of bewborns. She was the first vampire according to the Greek mythology. She was the terror of all, capable of tearing her eyes apart and ready to devour all human blood around her. From Aristiotle to Strabo and Stisichorus, all mention the teror of her deeds and image.

In the Byzantine era the acts of the undead and the creatures of the night expanded. The Church tried to control them and Orhtodox Patriarch Fotios issued notes and directions on how to approach and deal with them.
